Written in an accessible style its stories highlight experience from Cumbria to the Scottish Highlands, and from New Orleans to Tooting, London. Web links direct readers to topical references, and a practical guide shows how to run a community workshop on the topic. Available as a free ebook or can be purchased as a print copy.

New free guide – ‘Consumer kids – 10 ways to stop your kids wanting more stuff’

Consumerism and advertising are everywhere in modern society and children are particularly vulnerable to their messages. Children are an important target audience for advertisers, as they have their own spending power, ‘pester power’ over their parents and are the consumers of the future. As a parent it can be a source of real concern that one’s children are becoming too materialistic, and it can be difficult to know what to do in the face of the onslaught of messages from advertisers.

To help parents address this, Life Squared have published a new guide exploring how we can help our children think for themselves and become people rather than consumers.

Click here <http://www.lifesquared.org.uk/component/content/article/1-latest-news/165-consumer-kids> to find out more and download it.

lifesquared.org.uk also have other free publications for download – see http://www.lifesquared.org.uk
